Health - My New Year Word

Image
For the last few years, I have picked a word on New Year's to be my point of meditation.  Last year was Light and I explored all the ways "Light" is used in our lives.  This year, my word is "health."   As I get older, I am becoming more and more aware that our health has so much more to do with our mind and spirit than it does our actual physical selves.  So, I have begun the year improving, working on and developing my creativity.   Seems that when we decide to do something, Creator sends all kinds of help, so it was not surprise that my dear Soul-Sister, Eliza Fayle was thinking on the same tract as I was.  She is facilitating a great workshop, The Artful Joyful Me Project through her website, Artful Joyful You . Just learning about the project got me all fired up into researching how creativity helps reduce stress.  There are so many new reports available that it is mind boggling!  For Christmas, I gave my daughters adult col...

What Do You Make?

Image
Several months ago, I came across a video by Taylor Mali, a teacher who answered the question, "What do you make?" with eloquence and finesse. I shared the video with my soul sister, Eliza Fayle .  She was so inspired by it, that she began putting together a book of women who make a difference.   Yesterday, in an email, I received a copy of her second edition of Women Who Make a Difference .  Surprise!  There I was, along with seven other amazing, talented and wonderful women.  Let me tell you a little about Eliza.  She is a dynamo when it comes to affirming and supporting women.  Here website, Silver and Grace gives women over 40 a variety of topics to ponder - everything from what to wear in the summer to great reads and dealing with aging parents.  Eliza is a no holds barred type of woman.  She looks at, ponders and discusses everything from breast cancer to vaginal creams.  She does it with humor, yet, she gives so...

March Madness?

Image
Not sure why it is, but this month feels, to me, to be flying by way to rapidly!  Here it is the 11th and this is the first time I have had five seconds to write on the blog! Spring seems to be in the air. Of course, I have lived enough springtimes in New England to know that we could still have a snow storm or two before all is said and done.   One of the traditions I have begun is to take cuttings of the forsythia to force for my table for Easter.  With Easter only a month away, I had better get with the program! You see, I am very excited to see April arrive because my friend, fellow blogger, writer, and amazing woman, Eliza Fayle and her sweetie are coming to visit me!  Soul sisters from day one, we have formed a connection that is more than a coincidence.   This month, I will be sharing some wonderful, entertaining, enlightening and excellent books.  I also plan on sharing more poetry, along with more about my journey through seminary. Bles...

Developing Intuition

Image
Today, I am interviewing Eliza Fayle, fellow writer, artist, and kindred spirit.  Over the past few years, we have shared each others lives...the ups and downs...the triumphs and tragedies.  Through our communications, we have come to see a strong connection, spiritually.  This connection is what I call a "Soul" Sister connection.    Soul sisters are those wonderful women who come into our lives and who have had similar experiences that informed who they are. Eliza and I have stopped counting the similar experiences.  We just revel in the fact that the Universe has brought us back together! So, without further ado, I welcome, Eliza, today to share news about her new book. Greetings, Eliza! I am so excited about having you visit my blog today, especially with such exciting news, the publishing of your book, Developing Our Intuitive Self: Tarot and Oracle Card User Guide. I am going to jump right in with the questions. When did you first realize you...

Light vs. Dark

Image
Today, I have the great pleasure of introducing guest blogger, Eliza Fayle who believes all women over forty are fun, intelligent, sexy, and real.  (A concept it took me almost fifty years to realize!)   Through Silver & Grace, as a magazine editor, jewelry designer, and intuitive mentor, she guides women as they shine the light on all four of these qualities. You can find her at silverandgrace.com and while there, be sure to join the Silver & Grace Community by signing up for the newsletter. I highly recommend visiting and joining the Silver & Grace community. I am really not keen on winter. Not keen at all. This is particularly challenging, because in my section of Canada, the snow and cold can move in the beginning of November and not leave until the end of March. That is five whole months! Blech. However, I love the concept of winter. I am a firm believer that without darkness there is no light. I love stories that demonstrate this concept, and my favouri...
